the fall #3
there’s something inexplicably upsetting in this movie. it’s not in its images, but in the idea that all we can do is fall. the main character is a paraplegic stuntman who spins a saga to a young girl he meets while in a hospital. he creates a world and, out of sadness and disillusion, he lets every character die. they fall, they die, they surrender, all but him, saved by the young girl’s prayer not to let everyone die.
we all love movies and music and books for personal reasons. i loved this one because, funnily enough, it perfectly depicts this moment of my life, in which all i thought about my future, my life, my career is falling and i can’t stop it from happening, or at least i don’t know how.
feeling at the same time as the young girl and the stuntman, i find it hard to accept the fall and find it hard to stop it. i wonder if this is really what happens after each and every fall.
anyways, all this to say that you should give this movie a try. it’s its flaws that make it worth watching.
it’s also its flaws that make it the perfect last post for this tumblr of mine. so long, and thanks for all the fish.

Either you are drawn into the world of this movie or you are not. It is preposterous, of course, but I vote with Werner Herzog, who says if we do not find new images, we will perish.

I didn’t expect to be so deeply touched by this movie. Personal reasons are the reason, but isn’t this the reason why we love cinema?
